We Are Whitewood

Driven To Deliver

At Whitewood, we strive to consistently and efficiently deliver on every commitment we make. Every aspect of operations – cost, time, and service control measures – is optimized to ensure that projects are completed on track and on time, expectations are met, and promises are fulfilled.

Whitewood Transport began in 1972 in Whitewood, South Dakota, when a local construction company started a small trucking company — Whitewood Transportation. We believe the humble beginning of Whitewood Transport helped us map out our success today. Whitewood started small, mastered the fine points and kept the focus of providing safe and affordable transportation solutions to our customers.

In 1987, three individuals — Doug Miller, Larry Smith and Donald Sand — formed a partnership, moving the growing business to Billings, Montana. Mike Wilson joined Whitewood in 1991, bringing his years of experience in the transport industry. John Hanson soon followed and both became shareholders. Over time, Don Sand, Larry Smith, Doug Miller and John Hanson left the company. Mike Wilson remains as the company’s sole shareholder.

As the company grew, Whitewood Transport began to specialize in the transportation of equipment and commodities of large or unusual weight or dimension. Today Whitewood Transport is recognized as Montana’s leading motor carrier, having been awarded Montana’s Motor Carrier of the Year for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012 by the Motor Carriers of Montana.

Our customer commitment does not stop at the borders of Montana. As the heavy hauler of choice for many shippers throughout North America and Canada, our operational efficiency allows us to provide consistent value and assurance to our customers.
